Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City Pickswise Expert Predictions
Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has said how much he loves an international break, but he has had plenty to think about over the last few days after his team lost 4 straight games for the first time since he joined the club in July 2016. Perhaps he will gain some solace from the fact all of those losses, which have included defeats at Bournemouth and Brighton, and a Champions League thumping at Sporting Lisbon, have come on the road as he prepares for Tottenham’s trip to the Etihad. City’s poor run started in the League Cup at Spurs on October 30, which should give Ange Postecoglou’s team a lift and they have demonstrated they can be an issue for City in the past, winning 8 of their 21 games against the Spanish manager.
That said, only one of those successes came on the road when a late Harry Kane goal earned a 3-2 Etihad win in February 2022 under Antonio Conte. There is little doubt that recent results have caused more than a ripple in the Premier League title race, but City’s home results have still been ultra strong. Arsenal, who have earned ties on their last 2 visits, are the only team to have taken anything at the Etihad in City’s last 12 home league games. Tottenham should be more positive than most visitors — Postecoglou rarely plays any other way — and with 7 of City’s last 9 league home games featuring more than 3 goals, that pattern looks set to continue.
