Canucks vs Hurricanes Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Vancouver Canucks make their third stop on a 5-game road trip against the Carolina Hurricanes. There is a winter storm warning in the Raleigh, N.C. area, so there is an outside chance that the game could be postponed — although things aren’t expected to be that bad in the Triangle. Vancouver has dropped a pair of overtime games to start the trip, falling 2-1 in OT in Washington Wednesday after suffering a 5-4 overtime setback in Montreal Monday. Since Dec. 18, the Canucks are just 2-3-5 in the past 10 games while averaging an anemic 2.0 goals in the past 5 outings. Vancouver is 1-2-3 in the past 6 tries against Eastern Conference foes, too.
For the Hurricanes, they doubled up the first-place Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 on Thursday — bouncing back from a 3-2 loss at Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Now, can Carolina start stacking wins? The ‘Canes haven’t won consecutive games since Dec. 15-17, when they outscored the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders 8-1 in a 2-game stretch. Carolina hasn’t won 3 or more in a row since Nov. 16-20, when it posted 3 consecutive victories. While it’s hard to trust Carolina on a back-to-back, Vancouver has been playing poorly lately while struggling to light the lamp. I’m taking Carolina but treading lightly.
Canucks vs Hurricanes prediction: Carolina ML (-150) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
