The St. Louis Blues are coming off a game against the Bruins on Saturday where they trailed for the majority of the game, and pulled it out in overtime. The Blues took advantage of some poor defence by the Bruins, but still only managed to score 3 goals, 2 in regulation. The Blues have still been bad on defence, letting their goalies face way too many shots at 30.5 per game, resulting in 3.47 goals per game, good for 27th in the NHL. They also own the 22nd best penalty kill, coming in at 77.1%.

The Hurricanes are a tier or two above the Bruins so far this season, and I think the Hurricanes will be able to pressure the Blues and exploit their weaknesses, similar to what the Bruins did, however they are good enough to keep the lead. The Hurricanes power play has been top 10 in the league so far, a category in which I expect them to be dominant on Sunday. The Blues do not handle pressure very well, being in the bottom half of the league in penalty minutes per game. This seems like the perfect storm for the Hurricanes power play to thrive, with their unit being hot, facing a poor Blues penalty kill, and should have multiple cracks at the man-advantage throughout the game.

Teams are usually worse than normal on the second night of a back to back, especially when both games are away. I think the Hurricanes show why they are one of the best teams in the NHL today, and handle the Blues with relatively no issues. I like the Hurricanes.
