New Jersey Devils vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Monday, 11/04/24
Devils vs Oilers Pickswise Expert Predictions
The New Jersey Devils will be continuing their Western Canada road trip as they roll into Edmonton to take on the Oilers. The Devils are coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the Calgary Flames. For a team that hadn’t scored less than 3 goals in their previous 7 prior to the game against the Flames, the shutout was quite the surprise. This team is too offensively gifted to be held off the scoresheet completely and I expect they will bounce back in a big way against Edmonton. They have been one of the better defensive teams to begin the season and I think this will serve them well against an Oilers team that lacks depth at the forward position. Without Connor McDavid in the lineup, the Devils will only be concerned with shutting down Leon Draisaitl, so this should free up some of their offensive players to focus on scoring rather than defending. They will be catching the Oilers on the second half of a back-to-back, which will be a big advantage as they should have more energy.
The Oilers, coming into this game without their captain McDavid and a lack of rest, are in for a very difficult night against the high-flying Devils. Outside of the Draisaitl line, they do not produce much offense or even pose a threat to score. Their defensive play and goaltending have not been great this year, averaging 3.27 goals against per game heading into action on Sunday night. The Devils should be able to expose this. I think we will see a big bounce-back game from the Devils after being shut out. Give me the Devils on the puck line at great odds.
Devils vs Oilers prediction: Devils -1.5 (+210) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
