Devils vs Hurricanes Pickswise Expert Predictions
Not only are the New Jersey Devils down 1-0 in this series after a 4-1 loss in Game 1 on Sunday, but they enter Tuesday’s Game 2 with a depleted lineup. Already playing without Jack Hughes and Jonas Siegenthaler, Brenden Dillon and Cody Glass both left Game 1 with injuries. In addition, Luke Hughes left with an injury as well, but he would later return to the action. It remains to be seen who will be available for New Jersey on Tuesday night, which could make things even more difficult going up against a team as strong as Carolina.
The Hurricanes controlled possession of the puck in Game 1, and out-shot the Devils 45-24. That is on-brand for Rod Brind’Amour’s squad, as Carolina’s defensive structure is always a priority, especially in the postseason. The Hurricanes also displayed great forward depth in Game 1, as 7 total forwards recorded at least 1 point, and 3rd line winger Logan Stankoven potted a pair of goals. New Jersey doesn’t boast that same type of depth at this time. Going against a banged up New Jersey team, consider backing the Hurricanes in regulation in Game 2.
Devils vs Hurricanes prediction: Hurricanes ML 3-Way (-150) available at time of publishing. Playable to -160.
