Nashville Predators vs New Jersey Devils Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 11/25/24
Predators vs Devils Pickswise Expert Predictions
The NHL’s Monday slate features a matchup between the Nashville Predators and the New Jersey Devils. The Predators look to build on top of last game’s win against the Jets, while the Devils look to continue their win streak to 3 games.
The Predators have been one of the NHL’s biggest disappointments to start the year off, as many people thought they would be in playoff contention, when in reality they are nowhere close. The Predators struggle to score goals, only averaging 2.38 per game, and only scoring over 3 goals twice in their last 6 games. The one bright spot on offence has been their power play, currently at 22.7%, good for 9th in the league. Their special teams unit overall has been good, as they also possess the league’s best penalty kill. If the Predators are going to win this game, the difference will be made on special teams.
The Devils have been good on offence this year, ranking in the top 10 in goals per game, and owning the second best power play unit at 31%. They have scored 3 goals or more 4 out of their last 5 games, and allowing 11 goals over those 5 games as well, which is a 2.20 goals per game pace. On the season, the Devils only allow 2.61 goals per game, and own a top 10 penalty killing unit themselves.
As mentioned above, if the Predators want to win this game, the difference will have to be made in the special teams department. The only issue is, the Devils are also prolific in their special teams, meaning that I think the difference will not be great enough to overcome the holes in the Predators game right now. I like the Devils.
Nashville Predators vs New Jersey Devils Prediction: New Jersey Devils ML (-160). Playable at that number.
