Hurricanes vs Bruins Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Carolina Hurricanes face a tough turnaround, playing Saturday in Boston against another Original Six team in Detroit on Friday night. The Canes lost 5-3 in Motown against the Red Wings, and now face the skidding Bruins. The good news is that Frederik Andersen is expected to start, and he has been playing very well lately. That’s an ominous sign for the Bruins, who have dropped 10 in a row for the first time in over a decade. And, it’s in last place in the Eastern Conference, a spot it hasn’t inhabited in nearly three decades, or 1997 to be exact. This is definitely unchartered territory for the B’s.
The Hurricanes are essentially locked into the second spot in the Metropolitan Division, as they’re unlikely to move up to first to unseat the red-hot Washington Capitals, nor are the New Jersey Devils likely to catch them. In fact, the Canes and Devils are likely to play in the first round of the playoffs. Finishing second ensures home-ice advantage in the first round, and that’s good, because the Hurricanes aren’t very good on the road. In fact, Carolina is just 16-17-3 on the road. However, it should do enough, especially with Andersen, to get the job done Saturday.
Hurricanes vs Bruins prediction: Hurricanes (-170) on the 3-way line at time of publishing. Playable to -180.
