The Carolina Hurricanes return home from a 4-game road trip to face the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. Known for their puck possession and stout defensive effort, the Hurricanes didn’t look sharp defensively in their last 2 games of the trip. They yielded 7 goals against the Kings on Saturday and then allowed 37 shots on goal from the Ducks on Sunday. That is uncharacteristic of Rod Brind’Amour’s squad, as Carolina allows just 2.66 goals per game (6th-best in the league) and 25.2 shots on goal per game (best in the league). Back on home ice, look for a more spirited effort on the defensive side from Carolina.

Nashville’s offense has struggled all season long. The new additions haven’t jelled as expected, which has resulted in Nashville scoring a league-low 2.54 goals per game. That number drops to 2.14 on the road, and with the Hurricanes looking to tighten things up defensively, goals might be hard to come by for the Predators in this one. The good news for the Predators is that they have allowed just 9 total goals in their last 4 road games. All in all, look to the Under in this Tuesday night matchup.

The Washington Capitals kick off a quick 2-game road trip to Winnipeg and Minnesota on Tuesday night. The Caps have won 4 games in a row while going 9-1-0 in the past 10 outings. Washington has won 5 of the past 7 in the series, though.

This is still a marquee matchup despite the fact the Jets were surprised by the Buffalo Sabres last time out, falling 5-3 on Sunday. Eric Comrie was in between the pipes, and perhaps the Jets were looking forward to this titanic matchup. The Jets are still 4-2-0 in the past 6 games, and 6-3-0 in the past 9 outings, but they’ve also allowed 14 goals in the past 3 games, and they certainly have looked a lot less invincible than earlier in the season. Let’s back the Capitals on the road to get the job done, as they hold solid value with plus-money odds.
