Chiefs vs Browns Pickswise Expert Predictions
Kansas City’s luck has to run out at some point, right? Just look at the last month or so. They’ve won 3 of their last 4 games without reaching 20 points. And during that span, they’ve survived a scare from the Panthers, lucked out on a miscommunication by the Raiders and blocked a game-winning field goal. And then in Week 14, Matthew Wright’s game-winning field goal was headed directly at the upright, but it took a Chiefs bounce and doinked in. Kansas City improved to 12-1, but the last month of their schedule won’t be easy, and it starts with the Browns on Sunday. It’s become clear with Jameis Winston under center that the Browns are going to throw a lot — and I mean a lot. He’s attempted 99 passes in just the last 2 games. That’s an area that the Chiefs have struggled in lately and have been vulnerable against deep passes. That could create plenty of opportunities for Jerry Jeudy.
Cleveland has lost 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5, yet they are just 4.5-point underdogs against the Chiefs. That small spread tells me that oddsmakers don’t view the Chiefs as a true 12-1 team and see the Browns as a possible upset candidate. Cleveland has had some bad luck lately and has actually been playing pretty well, but a few mistakes in critical moments have made all the difference. But the bottom line is that Winston has Jeudy, David Njoku and Elijah Moore as his top targets and a healthy Nick Chubb in the backfield. If the Browns’ defense can make a few stops, I like Winston’s chances of finding success in the Kansas City secondary. I’ll take the points with the home underdog.
