Week 9 of the XFL season will get underway with a double-header on Saturday, which begins with the Vegas Vipers visiting the Houston Roughnecks on ABC before the nightcap features the San Antonio Brahmas hosting the Orlando Guardians on ESPN. Sunday’s schedule includes the Arlington Renegades, DC Defenders, Seattle Sea Dragons and St. Louis Battlehawks

Vegas Vipers ML over Houston Roughnecks (+240)
The Roughnecks beat the Brahmas 17-15 in overtime last week, but prior to that result they had lost 3 in a row. During that stretch they allowed 82 points. Beating lowly San Antonio by just 2 points and needing an extra frame in order to do so is not encouraging for Houston’s chances moving forward. The Vipers are nothing special at 2-6 overall, but they are trending in the right direction. They also went to OT last weekend and lost, but that was against a stellar Battlehawks squad. Quarterback Jalen McClendon has taken over under center and with him running the show the offense is making a lot fewer mistakes. I wouldn’t be shocked if Vegas wins this one outright, and you can get them at a great price.
San Antonio Brahmas -2 over Orlando Guardians (-110)
Giving only 2 points at home to a team that is 1-7 is an opportunity that should not be passed up. It’s true that San Antonio isn’t any good, either, but Orlando is the worst team in the XFL. The Guardians finally won a game in Week 7 following a 0-6 start, but they lost to Arlington 18-16 in Week 9. Quinten Dormady threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 4 times. That isn’t going to get it done. Don’t forget that the Brahmas dominated this head-to-head matchup 30-12 in Week 2, and that was on the road. They should be able to take care of business at home.

St. Louis Battlehawks -1.5 over Seattle Sea Dragons (-110)
The Battlehawks (6-2) are trying to stay within striking distance of the Defenders (7-1) in the North Division. As such, St. Louis will certainly be motivated for Sunday’s contest against Seattle. The Sea Dragons are hanging around in the division, too, coming in with a 5-3 record. Separated by 1 game in the standings, the primary difference between these 2 teams is that the Battlehawks went into Seattle and picked up a 20-18 victory in Week 2. Now with home-field advantage and heading into this showdown on a 3-game winning streak that has come by a total margin of victory of 36 points, St. Louis should be poisted to win the regular-season head-to-head series 2-0. I will happily give the 1.5 points, too.
