In a league like the XFL where there’s still plenty of unknowns, getting the Battlehawks as 3-point underdogs looks like good value when you consider what we saw in the first weekend of the season. Because of the XFL’s PAT rules, getting 3 points isn’t quite the same as it is in the NFL. But the Battlehawks look a sharp team and they should be able to at least push Seattle all the way on Thursday night.

Battlehawks vs Sea Dragons point spread pick: Battlehawks +3 (-110)
The St. Louis Battlehawks take on the Seattle Sea Dragons in a Thursday night special. The Battlehawks scored 15 points in the fourth quarter of their last game to win by 3 points. They struggled at the beginning of the game but as the XFL has shown in the first week, the game is not over till it’s over. The Battlehawks were led by quarterback AJ McCarron who was 18/26 for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Brahmas defense did show a weakness for the former NFL quarterback as they sacked him 5 times for 47 yards. This will be the key if the Sea Dragons want to win this game, they must put pressure on the quarterback.
The Sea Dragons were on the opposite end of a comeback last week as they let the Defenders score a last-minute touchdown to win the game. They didn’t allow a 15-point comeback like the Battlehawks, but it still showed some gaps on the defensive end. The Sea Dragons were also led by a former NFL quarterback who was used heavily. Ben DiNucci went 35/54 for 282 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. DiNucci also had 2 fumbles, one of which was recovered by the Defenders. The turnovers are why I am taking the Battlehawks in this game. This game seems to be played by two very close teams with the only big difference being the Battlehawks having 0 turnovers in their last game, and the Sea Dragons having 3. Battlehawks vs Sea Dragons Over/Under totals pick: Over 36.5 (-110)
The totals in these XFL games are still around 36 points. Last week, 3 of the 4 games went over. The totals are very difficult to handicap because the defenses are so unpredictable. In week 1 both of these teams scored 18 points which I think they could easily do again this week. The Battlehawks stalled in the middle of the game but that shouldn’t happen again in week 2, and the Sea Dragons had 3 turnovers that kept their offense out of the endzone that I again don’t think will repeat this week. Take the over in a game with a low total.
