Both of these South Division rivals are 0-1, so they will be desperate to pick up their first win of the 2023 campaign. San Antonio lost 18-15 at home to Suist, while Orlando went on the road and got blasted by Houston 33-12.

Obviously the sample size of XFL action is small, so giving points – and in this case more than a field goal if you are backing San Antonio – may seem dicey when there are so many unknown quantities in the league. Still, the Brahmas should be the way to go. They were at least respectable in Week 1 and the Battlehawks made that result even more acceptable when they went on the road and beat the Seattle Sea Dragons on Thursday. Whereas San Antonio can be feeling decent about itself, the same can’t be said of the Guardians. They were downright bad against the Roughnecks. As such, San Antonio on the money line should be a safe play and even taking the -3.5 spread has the makings of a winning bet.

San Antonio Brahmas vs Orlando Guardians expert picks

Brahmas vs Guardians point spread pick: Brahmas -3.5 (-110)
The Brahmas suffered an 18-15 loss to the St. Louis Battlehawks in Week 1. San Antonio quarterback Jack Coan, a Notre Dame product, struggled to the tune of 2 turnovers (an interception and a lost fumble). If nothing else, the Brahmas at least led the entire league in rushing during Week 1 action (133 yards) thanks to Kalen Ballage and Jacques Park.
Fortunately for the Brahmas, the Guardians looked even worse in their opener. Orlando was outmatched from the beginning in a 33-12 setback against the Houston Roughnecks. Turnovers were an even bigger problem for the Guardians, who used 2 different quarterbacks and threw a combined 3 interceptions. Orlando may not be quite as bad as it performed in Week 1, but the didn’t give bettors any reason whatsoever to have confidence in it heading into Week 2. not as bad as it looked in Week 1, but it showed no reason to bet on them this week.

Neither team scored many points in Week 1 (15 for the Brahmas and 12 for the Guardians). Given San Antonio’s success on the ground during its opening game, it should stick with the rushing attack in a major way on Sunday. All signs point to this team running it more than any other XFL franchise this season. In a league that already plays a lot shorter games than its NFL counterpart, a steady dose of running the ball could really lead to long drives and minimize the total number of possessions. With both offenses appearing to be mistake prone when they take to the air, the under looks like the smart play.
