The Guardians are the team that all the others want to play in the XFL at the moment, having made an unimpressive start to the season. Former NFL quarterback Paxton Lynch was benched in their opening 33-12 beatdown by the Roughnecks, and was little better in Week 2 when they lost 30-12 to the Brahmas at home. The Renegades opened up with a 22-20 win over the Vipers, but were pegged back to 1-1 with last week’s loss to the Roughnecks, although they led 14-11 at half-time and gave Houston a much tougher game than Orlando had.

We’ve got 2 standout XFL predictions for this weekend’s game between the Orlando Guardians and Arlington Renegades.
Guardians vs Renegades point spread pick: Renegades -8 (-110)
The Arlington Renegades take on arguably the worst team in the league, the Orlando Guardians, on Sunday. Orlando has scored 12 points in each of its first 2 games and has been outscored by double digits in both games. The Guardians had 175 total yards last week, but that doesn’t seem to matter for this team. They had over 300 yards in Week 1 and still put up only 12 points and lost by 21 points. The Guardians again went with Paxton Lynch as their starting quarterback last week, and although he played better, he did not get it done. They had only 87 total passing yards and he could be their Achilles heel once more against the Renegades.
The Renegades lost in Week 2 against a powerhouse Houston team but still played a decent game. It came down to a late score for the Roughnecks to win the game. The Renegades’ defense again forced multiple turnovers, but it wasn’t enough for the win in that matchup. With Orlando already struggling, the Renegades are favored by 8 points in this game. With the extra-point rules in the XFL, this number is still only one possession and because of that, I will take the Renegades to cover.

Guardians vs Renegades over/under totals pick: Over 37.5 (-105)
This total is an interesting one to handicap. The Guardians can be expected to put up around 12 points again as they have in each of the first 2 weeks, but the Renegades, as their name suggests, are something of a wildcard. They have scored most of their points off turnovers this season, and could do that again this week, but will their offense finally be able to put up big numbers against the worst team in the league? I would say yes. Orlando has allowed more than 30 points on defense in both of its games this season and I don’t expect the Guardians to shore up their defense this week.
