The Renegades come into this Week 5 matchup with the record advantage, but it’s slightly misleading. Arlington is 2-2 this season with their 2 wins coming against the Guardians and the Vipers, who are both 0-4 entering Week 5. Meanwhile, the Brahmas have had a tougher schedule as they’ve faced the Roughnecks, Battlehawks, Sea Dragons and Guardians, and are 1-3 in those 4 games. With just a few weeks left in the regular season, this Week 5 matchup could be crucial.

Arlington Renegades vs San Antonio Brahmas expert picks

Renegades vs Brahmas point spread pick: Brahmas -3 (-110)
The Brahmas opened as 3-point favorites for Sunday’s game, but that’s not enough. They have quietly played excellent football in recent weeks, which have included an easy win over the Guardians and several hard-fought games against some of the best teams in the league. The most points that San Antonio has allowed in a game this season is 22 to the Roughnecks, who are regarded as the best team in the XFL. In their other 3 games, the Brahmas allowed 18, 12, and 15 points.
After defeating the Vipers 22-20 to start the season, the Renegades gradually began to lose their way. They were defeated by the Roughnecks in Week 2, managed to defeat the winless Guardians 10-9 in Week 3, but fell to the Battlehawks 24-11 the following week. Arlington has totaled 420 yards over the past 2 weeks while only scoring just 21 points.
Their quarterback situation is problematic since both Kyle Sloter and Drew Plitt have performed poorly when given the chance to play, and they lack a reliable running back. De’Veon Smith, the only Renegade in the top 26 in the league in rushing yards, is the team’s rushing leader with 129 yards after 4 games. The Arlington offense should stall against the San Antonio defense, and Jack Coan should be able to lead the Brahmas to their 2nd win of the season.
Renegades vs Brahmas Over/Under totals pick: Under 35 (-110)
This is the lowest total in Week 5, but it still might not be low enough. The Renegades are the lowest scoring team in the XFL as they’ve scored just 4 touchdowns in 4 weeks. They are one of the worst teams when it comes to getting 1st downs, as Arlington is converting just 36.5% of 3rd downs and 12.5% of 4th downs. That’s been one of the biggest factors for why they have only 4 touchdowns this season, but it’s also been due to their below-average quarterback tandem between Sloter and Plitt. I’m not confident that Arlignton will score more than 12 points, as I expect a 20-12 type of game that ends in the favor of the Brahmas.
