Croatia and Morocco suffered huge disappointment in failing to reach the World Cup final but both teams can be incredibly proud of their efforts in making it this far and will want to end the tournament on a high with victory in the 3rd-placed playoff.

The 3rd-placed playoff has historically been an entertaining spectacle with plenty of goals and the likelihood is that it will be a similar story again this year. Ten of the last 11 3rd-placed playoffs have gone over 2.5 goals and with Morocco and Croatia both likely to be aiming to finish the tournament in style, the same is fancied once more.
Morocco will also be without their starting central defenders Nayef Aguerd and Romain Saiss which leaves them short at the back and Croatia could take full advantage. Morocco’s run to the semifinals of the World Cup was one of the most unlikely in recent history but that monumental effort will have taken plenty out of their players and they may not be able to replicate their previous performances in this clash.
Croatia’s 3-0 defeat to Argentina in their semifinal was a disappointment but they still played well for the most part and have lost just 1 of their last 12 games, including wins over France and Denmark and a tie with Brazil, which they won on penalty kicks.
Morocco have put in some valiant displays to reach this point but the absence of Aguerd and Saiss leaves them vulnerable to this Croatia side.

Consistent goals have been something of an issue for Croatia at this tournament but they may come to rely on one of their veterans to get them on the scoresheet in this matchup. Ivan Perisic is Croatia’s big-game player and can find the net once again.
The 33-year-old has scored 33 goals in 122 appearances for his nation and scored their crucial equalizer against Japan in the Round of 16. Ten of Perisic’s 33 goals for his country have been at a major tournament so he knows how to turn up on the big occasions and he can do so once more to help secure his team 3rd place in this clash.
