That was not a quiet Tuesday! Who would have thought that the day the NFL’s most successful player announced his retirement it wouldn’t even be the biggest story of the day? Former Dolphins’ coach Brian Flores’ lawsuit against the league was a major bombshell and there was more NFL news this morning with the official announcement of the Washington Football Team’s new name — the Washington Commanders!

As for today’s sports action, there’s a great NBA slate and the final NHL action before the all-star break, plus college basketball, and soccer games. Let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Suns and Warriors stay hot
The Suns and Warriors kept up their impressive streaks on Tuesday with the Suns winning their 11th straight game with a 121-111 success against the Nets, while Golden State made it 7 in a row by beating the Spurs 124-120. The Suns (41-9) and Warriors (39-13) are 7.5 and 4.5 games clear of the Grizzlies in the Western Conference standings, and no Eastern team has more than 32 wins.

Solid day on NHL Best Bets and props
Our two NHL 3-star picks on Tuesday produced a winner (under 6 in Islanders vs Senators) and a push, while we went 2-0 on hockey player props with Connor O’Brien giving 2 plus-odds winners.

Top teams given tough battles again
It was a strong day in the NCAAB for the team, with the Pickswise handicappers going 10-5 on the Tuesday sides and cashing our parlay at +596 odds! That’s the 3rd time in the past 9 days that we’ve hit the college hoops parlay.

Today’s Slate

NBA in the spotlight with 9-game slate
We have a great 9-game slate in the NBA today, including an ESPN doubleheader of Grizzlies vs Knicks (7:30 pm ET) and Nuggets vs Jazz at 10:00 pm ET. Read our picks for all today’s NBA games.

NHL signs off with TNT doubleheader
We have only 5 NHL games today as the league heads into the all-star break, but there are 2 top contests on the TNT doubleheader with Oilers vs Capitals at 7:30 pm ET and Wild vs Blackhawks at 9:30 pm ET. Read today’s NHL picks.

There’s college basketball and soccer too
There’s some great NCAAB action today, with Purdue, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Villanova among the top teams in action. Check out our picks for all today’s college basketball. It’s another big night of World Cup soccer qualifying games, too, with the USMNT in action against Honduras (7:00 pm ET, FS1). Read our previews of today’s top World Cup games.

Best Bet of the Day

Los Angeles Lakers -3.5 vs Portland Trail Blazers
10:30 pm ET

Not having Damian Lillard around is starting to catch up with the Trail Blazers, who managed only 81 points against the Thunder in their last game. Portland has covered the spread just 5 times in its last 20 games against Western Conference opponents and against the Lakers they are 3-6 SU in the last 9 head-to-head meetings. Even without LeBron James, there were some encouraging signs in the Lakers’ loss at Atlanta and Anthony Davis is coming back into shape. Take the Lakers to cover at home. Read our full game preview for Trail Blazers vs Lakers.
