Welcome to another terrific Tuesday of sports. There was no basketball or hockey action yesterday but the good news is they’re both back on the menu today, with some great matchups in prospect. We also have MLB and soccer on today’s slate, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

Great run on MLB totals continues
The Pickswise handicappers are in fine form with their picks for MLB totals, and after going 10-5 on Sunday, we had a 7-4-1 record yesterday, taking us to 17-9-1 over the last 2 days. Kyle Lupas cashed our Best Bet on the Giants ML as they beat the Rockies 7-6. Elsewhere, the Red Sox beat the Astros, the Brewers beat the Braves 1-0 and the Cubs bashed the Pirates 9-0, with 8 of the runs coming in the 1st inning.

NBA conference finals start tonight
The Celtics and the Heat will get this season’s NBA conference finals started with Game 1 of their Eastern Conference series at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN. Read today’s NBA game preview.
NHL second round gets going
The NHL is a little further away from its title game than the NBA, but the second round of the playoffs starts today with Lightning vs Panthers (7:00 pm ET) and Blues vs Avalanche (9:30 pm ET), and both games are being shown on TNT. Check out today’s NHL game previews.

We have an expanded 18-game MLB slate today with the White Sox and Royals, Diamondbacks and Dodgers, and Cardinals and Mets all playing doubleheaders today. Astros vs Red Sox is being shown on TBS at 7:10 pm ET. Check out today’s MLB game previews.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Florida Panthers Over 6.5 goals
7:00 pm ET, TNT
The Panthers were the only team to finish the NHL regular season averaging over 4 goals per game, while their last 2 meetings with the Lightning both ended with 12 goals. Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is great, but has not had the best postseason thus far and Tampa has allowed 3.43 goals per game in the playoffs, the second-most of the teams remaining. The Lightning have scored 3.49 goals per game on the road this season, and with a home average of 4.66 for the Panthers, we should be in for an electric Game 1.
