MLB: Detroit Tigers ML over Oakland Athletics (Game 1)

The first game between these teams today features a pitching matchup between left-handed pitchers in Tarik Skubal and Zach Logue. As disappointing as the Tigers have been this season, Skubal’s breakout season and the overall performance of their bullpen have been the lone bright spots for this team, and those strengths can carry them to a victory in this game. On paper, Skubal’s 6-8 record and 4.11 ERA doesn’t seem very impressive, but he’s been one of the most unfortunate pitchers this season and his 3.36 xERA and 3.28 xFIP is a more accurate representation of his performances.
