We are wrapping up the week with another busy Sunday in the world of sports. There is NBA, NHL, MLS, EPL, and college basketball on the menu. As such, let’s not waste any time and get right to making your next bet better. Here is our latest installment of Wise n’ Shine!
About Last Night
No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 all lose
For the first time in college basketball history, the top 6 teams in the country all lost on the same day. St. Mary’s put the clamps down on the highest-scoring team in the nation, upsetting No. 1-ranked Gonzaga 67-57. It was the Zags’ first West Coast Conference loss of the season and just their third overall. No. 2 Arizona, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Purdue, No. 5 Kansas, and No. 6 Kentucky also fell.
Nets outlast Bucks
If you enjoy box scores being filled up, you also had to like the Nets-Bucks game. Brooklyn went into Milwaukee and came away with a 126-123 victory, as Kyrie Irving led 5 Nets in double-figures with 38 points. Pickswise’s NBA expert had the visitors +9.5 and Over 237, so we certainly enjoyed the entertainment.
Ten goals for the Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs gave up 5 third-period goals on Saturday…and still won! After trailing 7-2 going into the final 20 minutes, the Red Wings twice cut their deficit to 1 (7-6 and 8-7) only to eventually fall 10-7. Mitch Marner scored 4 goals for Toronto, including a hat-trick in the second period alone. Fortunately we at Pickswise were on both the Leafs and the over!
Today’s Slate
ABC and ESPN doubleheaders
The NBA schedule is loaded, with an afternoon double-header on ABC followed by another doubleheader on ESPN at night. Among the teams involved are the 76ers, Knicks, Jazz, Suns, Mavericks, Warriors, and Lakers. Head over to our NBA picks page to see all of our previews and predictions.
Illinois paying a visit to Michigan
Sundays always pale in comparison to Saturdays on the college hardwood, but there are a couple of Big Ten games on the docket. Illinois is visiting Michigan and Ohio State is on the road against Maryland. Check out all of our CBB picks.
Eight-game schedule in the NHL
There are 8 games in the NHL on Sunday, and the opener is especially intriguing. Edmonton (29-20-3) is going up against Carolina (36-11-4) at 1:00 pm ET on NHL Network. You can find all of our hockey coverage on the NHL page.
Soccer action in England and MLS
Wolves meet West Ham in the EPL before Chelsea lock horns with Liverpool in the EFL Cup Final. As for Major League Soccer, we went 7-2 with our picks on opening day (including 2-0 on best bets) and we will try to keep it rolling with a 5-game slate today. Read our picks for all of today’s soccer action.
Best Bet of the Day
Liverpool ML over Chelsea
11:30 am ET, ESPN+
The last two EFL Cup finals involving Liverpool have both been decided in penalty shootouts, but the Reds are worth backing to get the job done inside 90 minutes in this one. Jurgen Klopp’s squad is in great form with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah back from the Africa Cup of Nations, several other first-team players returning to full fitness, and the January signing of Luis Diaz – who has made an impressive start to his Anfield career. Both EPL meetings between the Reds and the Blues have ended in ties, but Chelsea has not been at its best since a thrilling 2-2 tie with Liverpool on January 2. The Blues needed a late goal from Hakim Ziyech to earn a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace last weekend and that was their 8th consecutive game rewarding bettors of under 2.5 goals. Liverpool is 7 points clear of Chelsea in the Premier League and is obviously a cut above at the moment. Read our full game preview for Chelsea vs Liverpool.

Stat of the Day
The Hurricanes are No. 1 in the NHL in scoring defense, allowing just 2.37 goals per game. They are giving up a mere 2.0 over their last three contests. Carolina beat Edmonton 3-1 in the previous head-to-head meeting this season, so the ‘Canes and the under could be the way to go yet again.
Boost of the Day
Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic to combine for 25+ three-pointers and assists
Boosted to +150 with DraftKings Sportsbook
We don’t normally see combos involving three-pointers, but nothing about Curry and Doncic is “normal.” DraftKings Sportsbook is celebrating the Mavericks-Warriors showdown by boosting the odds on those two combining for at least 25 threes and assists from +130 to +150.
