Welcome to another wonderful week of sports. Congratulations to new Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, who was a brilliant first Pickswise pick at 16/1 for our new golf betting analyst Diane Knox Balas! The NBA is taking Monday off after the end of the regular season last night, but we still have an NHL game and a big MLB slate to entertain us. Let’s get straight into making your next bet better!
About Last Night
Embiid takes scoring title
The NBA provided upsets right to to the end, with the Heat losing 125-111 to the Magic — who were 10-point underdogs. Meanwhile, the Lakers won as 8-point underdogs in overtime 146-141 over the Nuggets. The Suns suffered only their 18th loss of the season, 116-109 against the Kings. The play-in games are set, with Cavs v Nets and Clippers vs Timberwolves on Tuesday and Hornets vs Hawks and Spurs vs Pelicans on Wednesday. All 4 Eastern Conference play-in teams won on Sunday. Joel Embiid won the regular-season scoring title with 30.6 points per game.
Super Sunday in the NHL
Our handicappers went 6-1 on NHL sides on Sunday and cashed both our 3-star plays on the Stars ML and Lightning PL. Our Sunday NHL parlay was also a winner at +737 odds! The Capitals beat the Bruins 4-2, while the Penguins beat the Predators 3-2 in overtime.
Rays last unbeaten team in MLB
The MLB season is only a few days old but 29 teams have already lost at least once, with the 3-0 Tampa Bay Rays the league’s final unbeaten team after completing a sweep of the Orioles with an 8-0 win on Sunday. The Guardians got their first win under their new name, crushing the Royals 17-3, while the Red Sox avoided being swept by the Yankees with a 4-3 Sunday success.
Today’s Slate
12 MLB games on the schedule
The bad news for the Rays is that they don’t get the play the Orioles all season and today they host Oakland as part of a 12-game Monday slate, while Baltimore hopes for a first win at home against Milwaukee. Read our preview of all today’s baseball games.
Jets vs Canadiens on NHL Network
There is just one NHL game, with NHL Network showing the Jets against the Canadiens at 7:oo pm ET. Check out our previews of today’s NHL game.
Best Bet of the Day
Toronto Blue Jays vs New York Yankees Over 9.5
7:05 pm ET
The Blue Jays have put up plenty of runs in their first 3 games and they finished 3rd in the MLB last season in runs scored. So far this season, 2 of their 3 games have gone over the total. Toronto has given up more runs (23) than it has scored itself despite sitting at 2-1. Both of these lineups are loaded with power hitters facing off against the bottom of the rotation and bullpens that are stretched thin. Take the over. Check out our full preview of Blue Jays vs Yankeees.
