Good morning, Pickswise Nation! Today’s sports slate isn’t too busy, but we’ve got new content in store for Week 0 in college football, plus a look at our best bets for this week’s preseason NFL action. The MLB slate is the main source of entertainment today, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Solid day on the diamond
The Pickswise MLB team had a fine day on Wednesday. Not only did we finish 15-11-1 on MLB picks yesterday, but we also kept our run of success going in picking game totals. Over the last 4 days, we are 29-23-1 on game totals for a success rate of nearly 56 percent. Can we stay hot in this market on Thursday? Make sure to keep track of our MLB best bets page, where you can find our favorite baseball plays every day!

Today’s Slate

Lighter MLB schedule
After a busy MLB slate on Wednesday, Thursday’s card is noticeably lighter. Baseball will be on throughout the day, with the Angels-Rays contest getting the day started at 1:10 pm ET. There are some good games in store on Thursday, such as Guardians-Mariners, White Sox-Orioles and Blue Jays-Red Sox. You can read our previews for all today’s MLB games here.

Final week of NFL preseason gets started
We also have two NFL preseason games to look forward to as the final round of games take place before the regular season gets underway in 2 weeks. Tonight sees the 49ers take on the Texans while the Packers take on the Chiefs, and we have NFL picks for each of those matchups. Check ’em out.

Best Bets of the Day

MLB: New York Mets -1.5 (-155) over Colorado Rockies
7:10 pm ET

Jacob deGrom was originally scheduled to start the second game of the Subway Series. However, the Mets ace was allotted some extra rest in preparation for this start. Predictably, deGrom has looked like his usual dominant self since he returned from injury. The best pitcher in baseball has struck out 12, 10, and 9 batters over his last 3 starts, pitching deeper into the contest with each outing. Given his history against the Rockies, expect those strong numbers to only improve. deGrom has enjoyed facing Colorado, posting a 5-1 record and a ridiculous 1.17 ERA against the Rockies. With the Mets out to make up for their 2 defeats to the Yankees, the Rockies could be in serious trouble on Thursday. Check out our full Rockies vs Mets predictions.
