College football is officially back, and the season got started with a surprise result as 13.5-point underdogs Northwestern beat Nebraska 31-28 in Dublin, Ireland. Meanwhile, Illinois crushed Wyoming 38-6.
Ravens win 23rd straight preseason game
Yesterday’s NFL preseason action saw the Bengals beat the Rams 16-7 in a Super Bowl rematch (although Cincinnati likely would’ve rather won the game in February) while the Ravens won again to make it 23 preseason victories in a row as they beat the Commanders 17-15.

MLB: Houston Astros -1.5 over Baltimore Orioles

Despite the confidence the Orioles are playing with, they now run into Justin Verlander, who is the frontrunner for the Cy Young award. Although they deserve credit for winning the first 2 games of this series, Baltimore has scored only 5 runs on offense since arriving in Houston. Austin Voth gets the nod for the O’s and his 4.73 ERA isn’t a great sign heading into arguably his toughest task of the season. Another issue is that the Orioles have used most of their high-leverage relievers over the past 2 games while the Astros have not, so their bullpen is more rested for the series finale.
