Good morning, Pickswise Nation. NFL Week 4 starts tonight with Dolphins vs Bengals and we also have MLB, college football and golf action today, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better.
About Last Night
Great night on the diamond
The Pickswise MLB team conjured up some more midweek magic with an 11-4 day on ML/RL picks (8-7 O/U). We cashed our best bet of Guardian ML too as they beat the Rays 2-1 in the 10th. We also had a 2-0 day with our YRFI/NRFI best bets.
On the field, the big news was Aaron Judge equalling the AL single-season home-run record with his 61st dinger in an 8-3 win for the Yankees over the Blue Jays. That wasn’t the only record of the day, though, as the Dodgers set a new franchise record with their 107th win of the season, a 1-0 victory over the Padres. The Mets moved ahead of the Braves in the NL East title race, beating the Marlins 5-4 after Atlanta lost 3-2 to the Nationals.
Today’s Slate
NFL Week 4 is here
There are only 2 unbeaten teams left in the NFL and one of them puts their 0 on the line tonight as the 3-0 Miami Dolphins visit the 1-2 Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football at 8:15 pm ET on Amazon Prime. Read our full Dolphins vs Bengals predictions.
10-game slate in MLB
Thursday MLB slates are often smaller but today’s has at least made it into double digits, with 10 games on the schedule. The action gets going early with 4 afternoon games, while the Dodgers will be going for win #108 against the Padres at 9:40 pm ET. Read today’s MLB predictions.
College football Week 5 gets underway
The NCAAF Week 5 action starts tonight with Utah State facing BYU on ESPN at 8:00 pm ET. Read today’s college football picks.
Best Bet of the Day
NFL: Cincinnati Bengals over 26.5 team points vs Miami Dolphins (-105)
8:15 pm ET, Amazon Prime
This is a brutal turnaround for the Dolphins’ defense. They were on the field for 90 plays in stifling heat against Buffalo as the Bills had the ball for nearly 43 out of 60 minutes. Multiple players on both teams were cramping and complaining of dehydration during and after the game. Since 2000, defenses that were on the field for at least 90 plays allowed their next opponents to exceed their offensive team totals in 15 of 24 games, a rate of 63%. Outside of all the trends above, this Miami defense has not played well so far this season. They are 23rd in EPA per play allowed and 29th in success rate allowed.
