Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to another wonderful week of sports. NFL Week 1 did not disappoint with a bunch of wild games and it’s not even finished yet, with the Broncos and Seahawks ready to rumble tonight. There’s also a 9-game MLB slate today, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!
About Last Night
Awesome start to NFL season for Pickswise
The Pickswise NFL handicappers started the season in awesome form, going 11-3 on spread picks on Sunday, including all 3 of our Best Bets (Falcons +5.5 and unders in Dallas and Tennessee). We also cashed our Sunday NFL parlay at +612 odds and hit two same game parlays in Steelers vs Bengals (+706) and Giants vs Titans (+700)!
Steelers beat Bengals in wild OT game
The Steelers beat the Bengals 23-20 in a crazy OT game, meaning both last season’s Super Bowl teams lost, while the Bears upset the 49ers and the Colts and Texans played out a tie, meaning no AFC South team has a win yet. The Chiefs, Vikings, Dolphins and Chargers impressed while Defensive Player of the Year TJ Watt and Cowboys QB Dak Prescott sustained Sunday’s most significant injuries. For more analysis of Sunday’s games, read our NFL Week 1 betting reaction.
MLB mega parlay cashes at +909 odds!
The Pickswise MLB team had a fine Sunday too, going 9-6 on ML/RL picks, 12-3 on totals and cashing our MLB mega parlay at +909 odds. Our top prop play was a winner and it was another 2-0 day for our YRFI/NRFI best bets and we hit our same game parlay on the Giants vs Cubs game at +330 odds. On the field, the Yankees beat the Rays 10-4, the Guardians completed a sweep of the Twins and the Mariners beat the Braves 8-7 with 2 homers in the bottom of the 9th.
Perfect day in tennis and lacrosse picks
Our top tennis handicapper Ricky Dimon went 3-0 with his U.S. Open men’s final picks, taking his tournament record to 22-15-2, while our Premier Lacrosse League picks on semifinal day went 4-0!
Today’s Slate
Russell Wilson returns to Seattle on MNF
The first Monday Night Football game of the NFL season should be fun at 8:15 pm ET on ESPN as Russell Wilson returns to Seattle with his new team, the Broncos. The Seahawks are home underdogs of up to 7 points. Read today’s NFL predictions.
MLB has 9 games on Monday
There are 9 baseball games today including an afternoon matchup between the Rangers and Marlins at 1:10 pm ET. The evening slate includes Dodgers vs Diamondbacks at 9:40 pm ET on ESPN+. You can read our MLB picks for all of today’s games.
Best Bet of the Day
NFL: Seattle Seahawks +7 over Denver Broncos
8:15 pm ET, ESPN
This number has got too big. New Broncos QB Russell Wilson didn’t take a single snap in the preseason, so he may not have the smoothest start and the Seattle coaching staff knows every aspect of his game, so Seattle has a shot to keep this competitive. Seattle QB Geno Smith played well in preseason and has two stellar WRs in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, along with a good run game behind Rashad Penny. Wilson is 13-16-2 against the spread in his career as a road favorite of over 3 points, while road favorites of at least 6 points on MNF have gone only 19-21 ATS since 2002. Check out our full Broncos vs Seahawks predictions.
