Good morning, Pickswise Nation. Week 8 in the NFL is upon us, as the Ravens and Buccaneers are squaring off on Thursday Night Football. The Week 9 college football slate is also getting underway, plus there is plenty of action taking place in both the NBA and NHL. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!
About Last Night
Hot: Our NBA picks; Not: The Lakers
The Lakers fell to 0-4 SU and 0-4 ATS with a 110-99 loss to the Nuggets. We cashed Denver -6 and overall went 8-2 ATS with our NBA picks. That included a successful Hornets +8 selection, as they lost a wild one in New York 134-131 in overtime.
As predicted, the unders sweep in the NHL
A low-scoring night in the NHL was music to the ears of Pickswise handicappers, as we went 3-0 O/U by taking the under in Rangers-Islanders, Oilers-Blues and Lightning-Ducks. We also successfully backed the Isles over the Rangers and the Lightning over the Ducks.
Today’s Slate
Ravens and Buccaneers kick off Week 8 in the NFL
Thursday Night Football finally produced plenty of points last week, as the Cardinals battled past the Saints 42-34. The Week 8 TNF matchup is an intriguing one, so let’s hope for similar entertainment. Be sure to read our full Ravens vs Buccaneers predictions.
Heat, Warriors headline NBA action
There are just 4 games in the NBA on Thursday, but they pack a punch. An NBA TV doubleheader begins with the Nets hosting the Mavericks before the Warriors entertain the Heat. The Clippers and Grizzlies are also taking the court. Don’t miss any of our NBA picks.
A huge 10-game schedule in the NHL
We have 10 games on the NHL menu and Boston – which is tied for the league lead with 12 points – will try to maintain momentum when it hosts Detroit. All 10 matchups are being shown on ESPN+. You can find our hockey coverage with our NHL predictions.
NCAAF Week 9 begins with Virginia Tech vs NC State
We are wasting no time diving into the college football Week 9 slate, which will kick off on Thursday night with a trio of games. NC State is hosting Virginia Tech in an ACC showdown before the Pac-12 wraps things up as Utah pays a visit to Washington State. Check out all of our college football predictions.
Best Bet of the Day
NCAAF: Utah Utes -7.5 over Washington State Cougars (-110)
10:00 pm ET, FS1
Utah’s last game resulted in a 1-point victory over USC in which the Utes did not hold a lead until quarterback Cam Rising scored on 4th-and-goal with 48 seconds remaining. They were rewarded with a bye the following week, so the Utes will be well-rested heading into this one. As for Washington State, they are on a 2-game losing streak, during which they have scored just 24 points in total. Their offense cannot come close to competing with that of the Utes. Washington State runs the ball at the 2nd-lowest rate per game, which puts a lot of pressure on quarterback Cameron Ward and an offensive line that ranks outside the top 90 in sack rate. Look for the Utes to win big. Check out our full Utah vs Washington State predictions.

Quote of the Day
“The positive is there are positives.”
— Virginia Tech head coach Brent Bry, whose team is 2-5 and has lost 4 games in a row heading into tonight’s game at NC State. The Hokies are +13.5 underdogs.
