Good morning, Pickswise Nation. Unfortunately, there are no more games to play in the Western Conference Finals – so we have an off night in the NBA. The good news is that we do have playoff hockey in addition to a full schedule of Major League Baseball action. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!
About Last Night
Celtics stay alive against Heat
Unlike in the Western Conference, there was no sweep in the East finals. The Celtics, who trailed 3-0, will live to play another day after going into Miami and pounding the Heat 116-99.
3-0 leads the norm in hockey
Across both sports currently in playoff mode, all 4 conference finals series have seen a team surge ahead 3-0. In the NHL, Florida pocketed a 3-0 advantage over Carolina on Monday in the ECF and the story is the same in the WCF after Vegas pulled off a 4-0 road win in Dallas on Tuesday.
Break up the Rangers!
The surprising Rangers won for the fourth time in their last five games by hammering Pittsburgh 6-1, improving their record to 30-18. One of Pickwise expert Keith Schmelter’s best bets was on Texas -0.5 in the first five innings, which cashed with the visitors leading 2-1 at the time.

Today’s Slate
Florida looks to finish off Carolina
The Panthers get the first chance to complete a sweep in the NHL conference finals, as they host the Hurricanes on Wednesday night. If red-hot Florida extends its overall winning streak to 5 games, a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals is the reward. You can find all our coverage for that game in our Hurricanes vs Panthers predictions.
A full 15-game MLB schedule
A 15-game slate in Major League Baseball includes 5 afternoon specials, which is not unusual for a Wednesday since various teams are wrapping up series and then going on the road to begin new ones tomorrow. Orioles vs Yankees and Dodgers vs Braves are among the highlights. Don’t miss our MLB predictions for every game.
Best Bet of the Day
English Premier League: Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion both teams to score (-189)
3:00 pm ET, NBC Sports Network
Brighton and EPL champion Manchester City have already achieved their aims for this season and City manager Pep Guardiola showed where his priorities lie when fielding a much-changed team during this past Sunday’s 1-0 defeat of Chelsea. With the EPL title having been locked up last week, Guardiola and company have their eyes fixed firmly on the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League Final against Inter Milan. Everton is the only visiting team to have won in Brighton’s last 7 home games, so the Seagulls will be confident they can compete with anyone. Goals seem highly likely, as 8 of Brighton’s last 9 EPL games have featured more than 2 goals. Check out our full Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion predictions.
