Welcome to another terrific Tuesday of sports. It should be a busy one with a full MLB slate, U.S. Open tennis action, EPL games and roster cutdown day in the NFL, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!
About Last Night
MLB Best Bet streak reaches 5-0
The best bets are the ones that win and we’ve cashed 5 straight MLB 3-star plays after the Cardinals smashed the Reds 13-4 on Monday to cover the -1.5 run line with plenty to spare. Aaron Judge hit his 50th home run of the season in the Yankees’ 4-3 loss to the Angels, while there was plenty of entertainment in the late Monday games with the Diamondbacks beating the Phillies 13-7 and the Padres holding on against the Giants to win 6-5.
Today’s Slate
Full MLB slate today
There are 15 games to enjoy today, although we have to wait until 6:10 pm ET for the first pitch of the day as the Orioles meet the Guardians. The National League’s top two teams, the Dodgers and Mets, begin a 3-game series in New York at 7:10 pm ET. Check out all today’s MLB predictions.
There’s tennis and soccer action too
The U.S. Open tennis first round continues at Flushing Meadows and Ricky Dimon has his U.S. Open Day 2 best bets, and there’s also midweek soccer action in the EPL with Chelsea among the teams in action this afternoon. Read our analysis for today’s Premier League soccer picks.
Drama expected on NFL cutdown day
It’s also a big day in the NFL, even though no players will be on the field, as every team must cut down their rosters from the current 80 to 53 by tonight — Dolphins running back Sony Michel was one early casualty. Expect some trades too, such as the one that saw Jaguars receiver Laviska Shenault joining Carolina on Monday, although Jimmy Garoppolo looks set to stay in San Francisco to back up Trey Lance after agreeing a new deal with the 49ers.
Best Bet of the Day
MLB: Detroit Tigers ML vs Seattle Mariners
7:10 pm ET
The Mariners have struggled with the Tigers even though Detroit is hovering around 30 games below .500. The Tigers have won 4 of the last 5 matchups against Seattle and the Mariners’ starting pitcher George Kirby allows too much hard contact. Detroit’s Matt Manning is back to steal the title of Tigers’ young ace from Tarik Skubal. Manning is a big-boy righty who tunnels his fastball and slider well, but he has struggled with connecting all the dots in the past. Since returning from injury this season he has pitched to a 2.37 ERA over 7 starts this season. Add in the Tigers’ solid bullpen and their status as home underdogs and this is a great spot to take the Tigers. Read our full Mariners vs Tigers predictions.
