Massive day on the diamond
Today’s action on the diamond is headlined by a number of matchups between playoff teams. First, we’ve got an AL West showdown in Houston between the Rangers and Astros. We also have a massive tilt in the NL Central between the Reds and Brewers, plus a terrific game in Philadelphia between the red-hot Orioles and Phillies. The subway series is set to begin in the Bronx on Tuesday night as the New York Mets face off against the New York Yankees. Pitching for the Mets will be Justin Verlander, who has a 4-5 record with a 3.47 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. He currently sits in the 72nd percentile for xBA, 75th percentile for xSLG and 58th percentile for BB%. Verlander had a mediocre start to begin the season, but has turned things around as of late posting a 2.08 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in the month of July.
