Good morning, Pickswise Nation. It’s another great day for sports, so let’s get right into making your next bet better.
About Last Night
Softball scores in the MLB
Thursday’s MLB action saw plenty of high-scoring games and several massive blowouts. Most notably, the Astros beat the White Sox 21-5, but other big wins included the Cardinals’ 13-0 domination of the Rockies, the Rangers’ 10-3 victory over the Athletics and the Blue Jays’ convincing 9-2 performance against the Yankees. That’s a lot of entertainment for a small 11-game slate!
NFL preseason Week 2 action
Our pick of Bears +3.5 was a great success, as Chicago blew out the Seahawks 27-11 on Thursday night. We are now 2-0 on our last two NFL picks and are stocked with NFL picks for the Week 2 of the preseason. Check them out here!

Best Bet of the Day
MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (-120) over Miami Marlins
10:10 pm ET
After Tony Gonsolin became the first National League pitcher with 15 wins, lefty Tyler Anderson will be out for his 14th against Miami. Not only is he set up for success with the Marlins’ lineup depleted, but they are also the absolute worst against left-handed pitching this season. That’s before seeing the dominant Dodgers pitching staff, as these teams have yet to play this season. The Marlins are sending a lefty of their own to the mound with Jesus Luzardo. He has made only three starts after being on the injured list for nearly three months and just allowed four runs to the Braves. The Dodgers are close behind Atlanta in terms of performance against lefties, which should help them open up this series in a convincing fashion.

Quote of the Day
“I hate that rule you can pitch a position player; there’s gotta be a way to avoid that. At some point when you get far down, I think it’s a travesty for the game. I don’t think fans enjoy it. But that’s our fault.”
— Tony La Russa, after the White Sox lost 21-5 to the Astros last night.
