Good morning, Pickswise Nation. Another week is getting started with 12 games on the Major League Baseball schedule. This also marks Week 1 of the NFL preseason (even though the Hall of Fame Game kicked things off last Thursday). It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

Pickswise experts dominate on the diamond
It was a huge day at the office for Pickswise’s MLB team. We went 13-4 overall with our game picks and red-hot handicapper Caleb Wilfiger cashed two more YRFI/NRFI bets to move to a 24-7 record. We also hit 2 of our 3 prop plays. That included Rich Hill under 16.5 outs, which was a comfortable winner in the Dodgers’ 8-2 victory over the Padres.

You can bet on this game over at Bet365, where you can get $200 in bonus bets by betting just $1! Click here to sign up for the world’s #1 sportsbook and take advantage of this can’t-miss offer.

Today’s Slate

Dodgers, Padres wrap up 4-game series
The Dodgers and Padres played the last game of the day on Sunday (ESPN Game of the Week) and will play the first game of the day on Monday (4:10 pm ET). That is the only afternoon contest on this current slate, which includes 11 games at night. Also on the schedule are Cubs vs Mets, Yankees vs White Sox and Giants vs Angels. Don’t miss our MLB predictions.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Chicago Cubs ML over New York Mets (+110)
7:10 pm ET

Pitching for the Cubs will be Drew Smyly, who has an 8-7 record and a road ERA of 3.26, which is much better than his 6.26 ERA at home. On the mound for the Mets will be Kodai Senga, who has a 7-6 record with a 3.25 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Senga has good numbers at home this season, posting a 2.40 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, but his recent start worries are worrying as he allowed 11 hits against the Royals. With an xERA of 3.65, this scorching-hot Cubs offense should get some runs on the board against the struggling Mets, and have tremendous value at plus-money odds. Read our full Cubs vs Mets predictions.

Quote of the Day

I wish we were moving on and I could guarantee a championship and do all that. But I feel like it doesn’t take away anything from this experience or my career in general. I feel so lucky and so grateful to play as long as I have on successful teams.”

— Megan Rapinoe of the USWNT following Sunday’s round of 16 loss to Sweden in a penalty shootout.
