Good morning, Pickswise Nation. A new week in Major League Baseball is getting underway with nine games and Week 2 of the NFL preseason is coming to an end. We also have an intriguing matchup in the Premier League. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!
About Last Night
Orioles beat Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball
The MLB week concluded with the Orioles beating the Red Sox 5-3 in Baltimore. After taking two of three games in that series, the O’s are 3.5 games ahead of the Sox in the standings and are just 2.5 games out of a Wild Card spot in the American League.
Ravens win in preseason…again
There is no stopping the Ravens – at least not in the preseason. They won their 22nd consecutive preseason game by beating the Cardinals 24-17 on Sunday. Arizona trailed 24-3 in the fourth quarter before scoring two touchdowns, and it even got the ball back but could not get any closer. Our Baltimore -5.5 pick was a winner and we are now 9-2 in our last 11 preseason bets.
Today’s Slate
Mets and Yankees begin Subway Series
The Mets and Yankees are leading their respective divisions and well on their way to the playoffs, so this is certainly a potential World Series preview. A National League showdown between the Brewers and Dodgers is wrapping up Monday’s MLB schedule. Be sure to read all of our MLB previews.
Monday Night Football…sort of
Okay, it’s not exactly the same kind of Monday Night Football that will be gracing our television screens in a matter of weeks. But it is Monday night and we do have action on the NFL gridiron. Week 2 in the NFL preseason is wrapping up with the Falcons visiting the Jets. Check out all of our NFL coverage, which includes a smorgasbord of futures bets heading into the regular season.
Manchester United aims for first victory
Two games into the 2022-23 English Premier League campaign, Manchester City does not have a single point to show for its efforts. With zero wins and two losses, the Red Devils are hosting Liverpool on Monday. It’s worth visiting our soccer page for previews and predictions.
Best Bet of the Day
EPL: Liverpool to beat Manchester United and Over 3.5 (+235)
3:00 pm ET
Manchester United has been a disaster through two games of the 2022-23 English Premier League season. Take the game to the Red Devils and they will fall apart, which doesn’t bode well for them in advance of Monday’s meeting with Liverpool. Brighton and Brentford have taken care of Man U, and those teams most definitely aren’t Liverpool. The Reds were underwhelming on opening weekend and drew 2-2 at Fulham, but even that kind of performance would probably be enough to crush this Manchester United squad. That is exactly what Liverpool did last season, winning the two head-to-head matchups 5-0 and 4-0. More of the same should be in store for Monday, and getting this play at bloated +235 odds is a steal.
