About Last Night
Phillies seize control of NLCS
After blowing a 4-0 lead in a Game 2 loss, the Philadelphia Phillies regained control of the NLCS with a 4-2 victory over the Padres on Friday. The Phillies got a home run from Kyle Schwarber and a decisive 2-run double from Jean Segura in the 5th inning to put them ahead for good. Game 4 gets underway this evening at 7:45 ET.
Busy night in the NBA
It was an action-packed night in the Association, and a strong one for our expert team of handicappers! The Pickswise NBA team went a combined 12-6 on spreads and totals on Friday, including a 3-0 day for prop expert Adam Ronis. Notable results included a Nets win over the Raptors, the Celtics knocked off the Heat and the Knicks beat the Pistons. The most surprising result of the night was a Jazz win over the Timberwolves as significant underdogs.
NHL story
Friday was a slower evening in the NHL, with the marquee game coming in the form of the Florida Panthers vs Tampa Bay Lightning. This rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference second round matchup ended in a similar result, with the Lightning winning in overtime by a 3-2 score.

Best Bet of the Day
NCAAF: Purdue +2 (-110) vs Wisconsin
3:30 pm ET, ESPN
Purdue hasn’t beaten Wisconsin in some time, but this is a rare instance in this series when the Boilermakers are in a great position to win. In fact, the Boilermakers should probably be favored in this matchup. After all, Purdue has the better quarterback and far better offense of these two teams. Purdue is 30th in the nation in offensive success rate, while ranking inside the top 30 in passing and rushing success rate. Aidan O’Connell will be going up against a Badgers defense that is 73rd in opponent EPA per pass, meaning he should feel comfortable throwing on Wisconsin. The Boilermakers have been strong on early downs and they should stay ahead of the chains by throwing the ball instead of running against this stout Wisconsin front. Read our full Purdue vs Wisconsin predictions.
