Novak Djokovic is halfway to the calendar-year Grand Slam, having triumphed at both the Australian Open and the French Open. Now he takes his talents to Wimbledon, where the 36-year-old Serb has won 4 consecutive titles. Djokovic is understandably a massive favorite once again, even though he is ranked #2 in the world behind Carlos Alcaraz.

3-star value play: Carlos Alcaraz (+350)
It is true that Alcaraz has a bad draw in the much tougher top half of the bracket, but there are 2 clear-cut best players in the world at the top of the men’s game right now and Djokovic doesn’t have any value at -160. Thus I will go with Alcaraz, who may not be at his best on grass but is so good that he hardly matters what surface is under his feet. Heck, the 20-year-old Spaniard just played his first-ever grass-court tournament other than Wimbledon and promptly won it (Queen’s Club a couple of weeks ago). As long as Alcaraz is physically fit, he has a chance whenever he steps on the court.
2-star value play: Daniil Medvedev (+2500)
Medvedev, on the other hand, has an outstanding draw. The world #3 also finds himself in the more difficult top half (at least that means he is away from Djokovic), but Alcaraz’s quarter is much tougher than Medvedev’s. Like Alcaraz, Medvedev doesn’t exactly thrive on grass but is so skilled in general that he can make his game work regardless of the surface. The 27-year-old is a major champion (beat Djokovic in the 2021 U.S. Open final) and has finished runner-up at slams on 3 other occasions. There is no reason why he can’t make another run, this time in London.
1-star value play: Jannik Sinner (+2000)
I was planning on staying away from Sinner (for once) due to his frequently questionable physical state, but at +2500 odds and with a great draw I just can’t do it. At only 21 years old, the Italian has already advanced to the quarterfinals at each of the four Grand Slams – including Wimbledon last summer, when he led Djokovic 2 sets to love before failing to seal the deal. Sinner is an outstanding 32-10 this season, which has him up to #8 in the rankings. When healthy, he is among the best players in the world – and is arguably the second-best player on grass behind Djokovic.
