First-round action at Wimbledon will conclude on Tuesday, when the Centre Court schedule is headlined by Iga Swiatek, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams. Yes, Serena is back! I also still have two best bets carried over from Day 1, so it is going to be a nerve-wracking afternoon and evening at the All-England Club.

Before Tuesday’s action begins, also be sure to note my outright best bets on both the men’s and women’s sides.

Below are my picks for Day 2.

Mikhail Kukushkin +4.5 games over Jenson Brooksby (-110)

Jenson Brooksby has played 9 grass-court matches in his career; Mikhail Kukushkin has played 55 — including a 4th-round run at Wimbledon in 2019. The Kazakh is already 5-3 on the green stuff this summer and he successfully qualified for the Wimbledon main draw last week. Brooksby, on the other hand, has been a complete disaster of late. The 21-year-old American is 1-5 in his last six matches and his only win during this stretch has come over an opponent ranked 171st in the world. I have Kukushkin winning this one straight up, so I will happily take +4.5 games as a bonus.

Kirsten Flipkens ML over Jaimee Fourlis (-128)

Jamiee Fourlis did well to qualify for the main draw, but that came against unspectacular competition. Now she is going up against a grizzled veteran in Kirsten Flipkens, whose guile often befuddles opponents — especially on grass. The Belgian is an awesome 67-39 lifetime on the slick stuff, including 6-2 in 2022. Her winning percentages on clay and hard courts over the course of her career are nowhere near the same. This may not be a complete blowout, but look for Flipkens to give Fourlis a free grass-court lesson.
