There are some key injuries that could affect the games for week 7 and I will touch base on these as well as what it means for the team involved.
Cooper Kupp – WR LA Rams
Kupp suffered an MCL sprain and is likely out 2-4 weeks. This injury will have some effect on the Rams passing offense as he has been Goff’s go to receiver, but with Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods it may have less of an effect on the overall team.
Devonta Freeman – RB ATL Falcons
Freeman is out for the season as announced on Tuesday afternoon and the Falcons have struggled running the ball on offense without him. I look for the Falcons to be a heavy passing team without Freeman for the rest of the season.
Jamison Crowder – WR WAS Redskins
Crowder will be questionable for the game on Sunday with an ankle injury. The Redskins passing offense this season and without Crowder it could take an even bigger dip against one of the better passing offenses in the NFL.
Ronald Leary – OT DEN Broncos
Out for the rest of the season with a torn achilles. This will likely affect the running game of the Broncos as he has been one of their best offensive lineman this season and with Keenum struggling this could really hurt the offense of the Broncos.
Joe Schobert – LB CLE Browns
Schobert will miss Sunday’s game and that will hurt one of the better defenses in the NFL as he has been one of their better defensive players this season and should affect their run defense in the short term.
Quincy Enunwa – WR NY Jets
Enunwa is dealing with a sprained ankle which may explain his production lately. I don’t think this affects the Jets passing offense as much though as other receivers including Robby Anderson have stepped up in recent weeks.
Calvin Ridley – ATL Falcons
Ridley suffered a bone bruise on Sunday and it may hamper the Falcons offense if he is not at 100% as he has become Ryan’s go to receiver in the red zone this season with 6 or Ryan’s 14 touchdowns on the season.
Niles Paul – TE JAX Jaguars
Paul suffered a sprained MCL on Sunday against the Cowboys, but this likely will not have that big of an effect on the Jaguars passing offense, but he is a decent blocker which could affect the running offense of the Jaguars.
Josh Allen – QB BUF Bills
Allen is out Sunday with an elbow injury. This will likely have a bigger than expected affect even though the Bills have struggled on offense this season and particularly their passing offense. With Allen out that means Nathan Peterman will likely get the start for the Bills which could lead to more turnovers on the Bills offense.
Larry Fitzgerald – WR AZ Cardinals
Fitzgerald may be out Thursday as he will likely be limited this week because of a back injury suffered on Sunday against the Vikings. Fitzgerald has had a quiet season and hasn’t been a key player in a struggling Cardinals offense.
Those are the key injuries this week and I would recommend following Jamison Crowder’s as well as Larry Fitzgerald’s injuries as they are key factors in the passing games of both of their teams and without them the struggling offenses may hurt more and could lead to the under in both games being better plays than expected.
