Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season kicked off with a sloppy but entertaining Thursday Night Football game in which the San Francisco 49ers dispatched the New York Giants in fairly routine fashion. It wasn’t the prettiest game, but it did whet the appetite for what should be a wild Week 3 slate on Sunday.

Chargers vs Vikings touchdown scorer pick: Justin Jefferson, WR, MIN (+100)

It’s no secret that Justin Jefferson is one of the best receivers in football, if not the best. And while he has yet to catch a touchdown pass in the first couple of games this season, his production has still been outstanding. The top Vikings wideout caught 9 passes for 150 yards (an average of 16.7 yards per reception) in Week 1 against the Buccaneers at home, before somehow managing to top that with an 11-catch, 159 yard performance against the Eagles in Week 2. Jefferson was inches away from scoring a touchdown in that game, as he fumbled the ball out of the end zone while reaching for the pylon. Given that he’ll be facing an awful Chargers secondary this week, I like the former LSU product to finally hit paydirt and continue his amazing start to the season.

Falcons vs Lions touchdown scorer pick: Bijan Robinson, RB, ATL (+100)

Another player who sparkled in his NFL debut and followed that up with another terrific showing was Bijan Robinson. The Falcons running back is part of a loaded rookie class on offense, and he immediately showed why he has the capability to be a franchise player. Robinson averaged 5.6 yards per carry against the Panthers in his NFL debut, to go along with 6 receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown. He followed that up with 124 yards on 19 carries against the Packers last week, plus 4 more receptions out of the backfield. Against a Lions defense that is far from one of the better units in the league, I expect Robinson to have another strong outing and find the end zone once again.
Bills vs Commanders touchdown scorer pick: James Cook, RB, BUF (+150)

To round out our touchdown scorer picks, we’re going with another running back, this time the Buffalo Bills’ lead ball-carrier James Cook. Cook has seen a substantial uptick in workload this season, which likely coincides with the Bills having a notable increase in the amount of running plays called, as well as screen passes and short throws to take the pressure off Josh Allen. Cook has had a ton of touches and that should continue in what could be a wet-weather game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. With 29 carries for a combined 169 yards over the first 2 weeks, all that’s missing for Cook is a trip to the end zone. I think he will finally cash in on Sunday, so I’ll gladly take these odds.
