The 2022 college football regular season came to a close last week and what a season it was. Last weekend’s slate was a wild way to end the year and we should have more great action in store in the coming weeks.

I finished the year with a 5-0 run on my best bets, which brought my record to 24-14-1 over the last 13 weeks. Let’s keep the momentum going in bowl season!

This week’s college football action features just 1 game, and it’s a historic one. The annual Army-Navy showdown is one of the sport’s longest running traditions, and the games are typically tight and hard-fought.

Let’s take a look at our best bet for Navy vs Army.

Navy Midshipmen vs Army Black Knights Under 33 (-110)

It’s extremely difficult to recommend taking the under at the current number. With that being said, I just can’t get there with an over. There’s a reason why this game has stayed under the total for 16 straight seasons now, and that’s simply too hard to ignore. Since 2005, head-to-head matchups between service academies have been printing money to the under. In fact, the under has cashed a whopping 82.6 percent of the time with a record of 43-9-1.

Neither team is proficient on the scoreboard, which already sets up well for a low-scoring game. That coincides with an under, especially since both teams want to run the ball early and often. Seeing as Navy ranks 19th in defensive rush success rate and 18th in EPA per rush defense, the Midshipmen should be able to neutralize the Black Knights. And while this Army defense is very poor (123rd in rush success rate), I don’t think Navy has enough offense to reach 20 points in this game. Both teams will still get their yards, but I’m doubtful that those yards will turn into points — specifically touchdowns. Considering the familiarity in this game, both these teams know how to defend each other and that will make moving the ball extremely difficult on Saturday.
