The time has come once again where college football fans all over the globe are ready to kick off another season – Welcome to the beginning of a new College Football campaign. On Saturday, September 7th the second week of college football picks will begin as Pickswise, the home of free College Football Picks dives into the winning picks of UT Martin Skyhawks vs. Florida Gators.
Against the Spread Pick
It was not exactly pretty, but the Florida Gators got their campaign off to a winning start during the proverbial week zero. That’s when they edged Miami (FL) 24-20 in a sloppy effort that actually dropped them to No. 10 in the rankings. Head coach Dan Mullen admitted that too many mistakes were made but was impressed that his players could overcome such adversity and pick up a big win over an in-state rival and ACC contender.
Florida’s pass rush looked especially impressive, accumulating 10 sacks–the most by an SEC team since 2008 and just the eighth game of double-digit sacks by an FBS team since the start of the 2015 season. UT Martin is coming off a victory of its own, but it needed a second-half rally to defeat Northwestern State–scoring 28 unanswered points en route to a 42-20 win. The Skyhawks are just 1-26 all-time against FBS schools. Almost five touchdowns should not be too much for the GATORS to cover.
Over Under Pick
Florida should have put up more points against the Hurricanes but was undone by dumb turnovers. Those will probably be eliminated with a game under its belt and lesser competition. In his first career start, UT Martin running back Peyton Logan became the first Skyhawk to hit the century mark on the ground since 2017–going for 149 yards on 13 carries with touchdowns of 21 and 53 yards. Take the OVER.
