The XFL 2020 season is nearing the start of week five as the XFL championship odds have changed quite severely especially for the St. Louis Battlehawks. Let’s take a look at the current championship odds and point out the true contenders entering the halfway point of the season. Odds via @DraftKings
Houston Roughnecks +175
The Roughnecks currently lead the XFL in championship odds as they have yet to lose a game in the season with a perfect 4-0 record. Houston has been dominant on both sides of the ball scoring the 16 touchdowns so far on the season which is the highest. QB Phillip Walker is leading the MVP race at the moment with completing 92 of 146 passes (63%) for 987 yards, 12 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Clearly the Roughnecks are the real deal and taking them at plus money is still a solid bet.
St. Louis Battlehawks +250
The Battlehawks were disrespected entering the season as oddsmakers gave them the worst win total odds of the 2020 XFL season. With a win total of 3.5 games, the Battlehawks have the chance to defeat the oddsmakers and get their fourth win on Sunday as they are small favorites against the DC Defenders. I’m already a huge fan of them to get that fourth win as I explained in our XFL Picks section, but an even bigger fan of them to win it all. St. Louis is now +250 to win it all as I would hammer it all the way until even odds. They have the largest fan base in the league and have arguably the greatest well-rounded team. Keep hammering until the train stops.
Dallas Renegades +600
The Renegades championship odds took a bit of a dive heading into week five as QB Landry Jones went down with a horrible knee injury with might have him sidelined for at least three weeks. With that in mind, QB Phillip Nelson will lead the charge again as he did in week one but has yet to win in a Renegades uniform. One of the reasons why the odds are not as high as others is due to the nature of the Renegades position to make the playoffs. With the Los Angeles Wildcats still a mess with injuries and being inconsistent, Dallas has a strong chance to make the playoffs and could have a healthy Jones.
Others
The top three contenders were listed above and those should be the only ones you should be making a bet on at the moment. As for the Defenders +700, they have lost two straight games as the MVP hype for Cardale Jones has left the building. New York +800 is finally making the QB switch to Luis Perez as they have a better chance of leaping the Defenders for that last playoff spot. I would take the Guardians over the Defenders if I had too at the moment. The last three teams of the Wildcats, Vipers, and Dragons have all had some type of injuries or inconsistent offensive drives that have failed them so far this season. The season is too short to make constant mistakes and the those three teams have already passed that line.
