World Cup pick today: Croatia vs Argentina – Draw (+235), 2:00 pm ET
The individual quality of Lionel Messi, who will be looking to add to his 4 tournament goals, could be the difference but this game is arguably less daunting for Croatia compared to their previous challenge of playing Brazil. Croatia’s only win in 90 minutes came against Canada as they tied group games with Morocco and Belgium as well as finishing level with Japan and Brazil after 120 minutes of action.
That’s similar to Croatia’s World Cup campaign of 4 years ago when 3 of their 4 elimination games ended level. And given Croatia’s defensive discipline and the low-scoring nature of their games, these teams could well be locked together after regulation time. Argentina is extremely reliable defensively, highlighted by 7 shutouts in the last 11 games, so a 90-minute tie looks to be the best bet.

NHL pick today: Carolina Hurricanes ML over Detroit Red Wings (-155), 7:07 pm ET
The Carolina Hurricanes finish off their 6-game road trip when they play the Detroit Red Wings tonight. The Hurricanes’ road trip has been very successful, winning 4 of the 5 games so far — with points in all 5. The Red Wings, however, have started to falter as they have now lost back-to-back games and 5 of their last 7.
The big advantage in this game comes from the Hurricanes’ defense — they have boasted a borderline top-5 unit over the past month. That tough defense has helped keep the puck out of their net, as they rank 6th in goals allowed per game since mid-November (2.62). The Hurricanes offense has also started clicking, averaging 3.66 goals per game in their last 6 games. For that reason, backing the Hurricanes will be the play.

NBA pick today: Milwaukee Bucks -4 over Golden State Warriors (-110), 7:30 pm ET
It was an odd game by the Bucks in their last outing against the Houston Rockets as they lost 97-92 on the road. However, at 12-3 SU, the Bucks are one of the more consistent home teams in the league this season, and they’ve also won 8 of their last 11 games against Western Conference opponents and 12 of 16 against Pacific Division teams. The Bucks won their last 2 home games against Golden State by 19 and 39 points. For that reason, backing Milwaukee to cover will be the play.

College Basketball pick today: Memphis Tigers vs Alabama Crimson Tide – Over 151.5 points (-110), 9:00 pm ET
While these are both top-20 defenses per KenPom and BartTorvik’s adjusted defensive efficiency metrics, Memphis and Alabama are fast-paced teams with efficient offenses that like to play in transition. Furthermore, the Tigers and the Tide both tend to struggle with turnovers, so there should be plenty of quick points off steals in this game. It may not match the offensive production of last year’s 92-78 Memphis win over Alabama, but this game should be fast-paced, energetic, and high-scoring. For that reason, backing the over will be the play tonight.
