For most fantasy football leagues it’s Fantasy Football Championship week so making the right call on who to put into a lineup is crucial. Let’s break down my five must-start players for week 16.
Dalvin Cook Running Back Vikings
The Lions run defense has been good but one guy who was able to have success against it was a less than healthy Cook who had ten carries for 89 carries. Cook is now healthy and with a new offensive coordinator, they are putting a new focus on running the ball.
In the Vikings last game against the Dolphins, Cook rushed the rock 19 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Don’t overthink this just because Cook has been inconsistent this year, he needs to be in your lineup on Sunday.
Mike Williams Wide Reciever Chargers
There are some questions about Keenan Allen’s health status for Week 16 but even if he is able to play I think Mike Williams is a must-start in this game. Williams is catching at least two or three passes a game and in the last game against the Chiefs he had seven catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns. He also added one rushing attempt for a touchdown.
He is such a big-bodied receiver he is very hard to defend in the Red Zone. Make sure he is in your lineup this weekend.
Jamal Williams Running Back Packers
Reports are that Aaron Jones has a sprained MCL which will probably sideline him the rest of the season. In stepped in Jamal Williams who had 55 rushing yards, 42 recieving yards, and a touchdown on 16 touches. That was against the Bears, one of the best defenses in the league and now they will be facing a much easier team in the Jets.
With the Packers also out of the playoff race there is no question they want to protect Aaron Rodgers so they will probably try to run the ball more.
Josh Allen Quarterback Bills
Starting a Bills quarterback? Am I nuts? Well maybe just a little bit but he is really a guy that you want in your lineups. Over the last four games, Allen is averaging 22.5 fantasy points and a big reason is because of how well he is using his legs. He has rushed for 351 yards and three touchdowns and they are facing a Patriots team that is giving up the 7th most rushing yards per game to the opposing teams quarterbacks.
The Bills will also probably be down in this game, so there will be plenty of times for Allen to run up the points.
Baker Mayfield Quarterback Browns
Baker Mayfield is giving the city of Cleveland hope and he is a guy that needs to be in your lineup. Although Mayfield is averaging only 13 fantasy points per game over the last three games he is facing a Bengals defense that is terrible at just about everything.
The Browns should be able to put up at least 30 points in this game which means there is going to be a lot of chances for a lot of Mayfield fantasy points.
