This article will examine 5 of the must starts fantasy football players for week 9 of the NFL season. We will look at the best quarterback, running back, wide receiver and top flex option to get everyone to cash in daily sports as well as your seasonal leagues. We will begin with the top quarterback option on the board.
QB: Drew Brees Saints
The Saints are playing in the highest projected scoring game on the board against the Rams at 60 points. The Rams are allowing 230.5 passing yards per game, but are coming off a game against the Packers in which they allowed 286 yards. However, the Saints have a more explosive offense and are averaging 9th most passing yards per game and are playing at home in the dome in which they dominate on offense in the dome.
RB: Kareem Hunt
The Chiefs are playing in a game that they are favored by 8 points in as they take on the Browns. The Browns are allowing the 5th most rushing yards in the NFL at 138.88 per game. The Browns just allowed over 210 total yards to James Conner as well as 2 touchdowns. Kareem Hunt is the workhorse back for the Chiefs just like Conner is for the Steelers and with the Chiefs being heavy favorites I look for huge stats for Hunt.
WR: Robert Woods
The Saints are allowing the 5th most passing yards per game at 300 yards per game and are giving up a lot of yards to the slot receivers in the NFL. They gave up 7 receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown to Adam Thielen. With this game being the highest projected total in the NFL by almost 10 points this is the game to target the passing game from both teams as they are both projected to go for almost 30 points. With Kupp questionable to play in this game I look for Goff to look for Woods in the passing game to keep pace with the Saints.
TE: Travis Kelce
The Browns are giving up the 7th most passing yards in the NFL and are going up against a team that ranks 4th in passing yards per game. Kelce is the most expensive tight end in week 9 for the NFL, but I look for him to be worth the price tag as they Chiefs are averaging the most points score in the NFL and won’t struggle against the Browns in this one. I look for Kelce to get over 100 yards and a touchdown in this match-up.
Flex: Michael Thomas
If you are playing in a GPP this weekend the chalk will be the Saints/Rams game as it’s the highest projected total on the board with the Saints projected to go over 30 points, but it is well worth the price tag to go with the Brees/Thomas connection side as they are at home and Brees averages well over 300 yards in his home games in New Orleans and will have to pass to keep up with the Rams in this one. I look for Thomas to get over 100 yards and a touchdown in this game especially if Peters is shadowing him.
