The middle of the week brings just a 3-game slate in the NHL before getting back to a double-digit slate again on Thursday. The Red Wings visit the Jets for a tough game while Detroit tries to break out of a slump. Elsewhere, the Islanders visit the Capitals in a game televised on TNT. Ending the night will be the Kings hosting the Kraken, which will also be televised on TNT. Though it is a small slate, each game has nail-biter potential. In addition to our below player props, make sure you read our NHL predictions for today’s big games.
Gabriel Vilardi over 0.5 points (-130)
The Jets are 14-5-1 in their last 20 games with all 6 defeats being narrow losses. Tonight, they face a Red Wings team that has dropped 6 of their last 7 games. This game looks good for the Jets and if they are able to stay hot, look for Gabriel Vilardi to continue to be in the mix. Vilardi had a career-best 23 goals with the Kings last year and is following that up well this year.
Despite missing some time due to injury this year, Vilardi been productive. He has tallied 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points in 12 games. In his last 5 games, Vilardi has 8 points including 7 points in his last 3. With that, he has been rewarded with top-line duties along with Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers, along with top power play duties with those guys plus Josh Morrissey and Cole Perfetti. Wednesday’s matchup sets up well for Vilardi and the Jets to continue rolling.

Quinton Byfield over 0.5 points (-130)
This season has been a bit of a breakout campaign for Quinton Byfield. We have known about him for years, but in 99 career games entering this season, he had 33 points. Through 28 games this year, Byfield has 8 goals and 23 points along with a +12 rating. At just 21 years old, this is a player who has great NHL experience under his belt and is coming into his own.
Quinton Byfield has earned a spot on the Kings’ top line along with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe. He is also on the top power play with those guys plus Drew Doughty and Kevin Fiala. Kopitar, Kempe and Byfield combine for 79 points in 84 games. This is the top-scoring team by game in the NHL so far this year and this line including Byfield has been a big reason. Byfield and the Kings get a favorable matchup tonight against a struggling Kraken team. He should be able to produce tonight.
