The NHL is back to a double-digit game slate with 10 matchups on Tuesday’s docket. This schedule is highlighted by the MAX and TNT games of the Red Wings visiting the Rangers and the Devils visiting the Avalanche. The action begins at 7:00 pm ET and will go through the entire night. Whether your team is playing or not, this is a great night to be a hockey fan.
You can also find out our NHL predictions for today’s slate, but for now, let’s dive into my NHL prop bets.
Nikita Kucherov over 0.5 goals (+130)
The Canadiens got off to a great start to this season, but they enter this game winless in their last 3 games. They look a little vulnerable right now having just given up 6 goals to an offensively challenged Blues team. That is something the Lightning will look to pounce on. Tampa Bay scores the 6th-most goals per game in the NHL and has the 2nd-best power play in hockey. Nikita Kucherov leads this strong offensive team in goals, assists and points.
For any offense that the Lightning generate, Kucherov has a good chance to be in the mix. His 20 points are T-2nd in the NHL and his 9 goals are T-3rd in the league. Kucherov leads a strong offense in a game facing a Canadiens team that ranks 20th in the league in goal prevention. The Lightning have scored 11 goals in their last 2 games and Kucherov and company will look to pad those numbers tonight. He has good value to do so.
Cam Atkinson over 0.5 points (-120)
The Sharks are clearly the opponent to target in the NHL this season as any team that plays the Sharks has a good chance to pad its stats. San Jose is 0-10-1 this season and has allowed consecutive 10-goal performances entering this game. The Sharks got pumped 10-1 on Thursday and 10-2 on Saturday. It is just flat out ugly. The Flyers are in a bit of a slide and will look to use the Sharks as a slump-buster tonight.
Cam Atkinson is on the Flyers’ top line as well as their top power play. Philadelphia is not very deep, but as Atkinson is a top player on the team, he consistently plays with their other best players. The Sharks unsurprisingly allow the most goals per game in the NHL and have the 3rd-worst power play. After missing the entire 2022-23 season due to injury, Atkinson has a respectable 9 points in the first 12 games back. Look for him to get on the scoresheet in a favorable matchup tonight.
