We’ve got a full slate of NHL action ready to take place today with some of the league’s best teams up to this point squaring off against one another. Of course, that means we’ve come prepared with NHL picks for every matchup today, but on top of that, I’ve identified 2 player props that I’m rather fond of for these Thursday matchups. So, without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Alex DeBrincat over 2.5 shots on goal (-160)

We first want to highlight the latest Red Wings offseason acquisition by targeting Alex DeBrincat. Detroit has stumbled a bit since their hot start, losing 3 of their last 4 contests, and a lot of that can be attributed to DeBrincat cooling off as well. He’s still tied for the NHL lead in goals with 9 and is in the top 10 in points, but he hasn’t tallied one of either in 3 games. What he has done, though, is continue to shoot the puck.

DeBrincat has recorded at least 3 shots on goal in 6 of the team’s 10 games up to this point, including 3+ SOG in 4 of his last 5 outings. While he hasn’t quite been able to capitalize on those opportunities, he’s still the Wings’ best goalscorer and should be looking for his shot early and often each and every night. I think tonight is one of those nights, so I’ll happily take DeBrincat to finish with over 2.5 shots on goal.

Pavel Zacha over 0.5 points (-145)

We’ll stay in the Eastern Conference with our second player prop, focusing on Bruins center Pavel Zacha. He’s been on an absolute tear over Boston’s last 6 games, so why not take him to keep up that strong play? The Bruins will be taking on a Maple Leafs team today that’s certainly better equipped on offense than defense, as their 3.1 goals allowed per game ranks 17th in the league.

This should give Zacha plenty of chances to come up big for his team today, which is just what he’s been doing night in and night out. He’s now recorded 1 point in 4 straight contests and at least 1 in 5 of their last 6. Additionally, Zacha is staying out on the ice for a large portion of the game and even had his TOI eclipse the 20:00 mark on two separate occasions this season. Snag him to record another point in today’s matchup and keep up his phenomenal play of late.
