What has been a fantastic sports week ends with one more fantastic day on Sunday. The NHL has contributed to the entertainment in a big way with huge Wednesday and Friday slates. Saturday also brought great games for fans including a couple of big upsets, and Sunday sets up for a solid finale to this week. The first puck drops at 1:00 pm ET and the final game will be ending approaching midnight. This slate involves a few division-rival matchups and should be great viewing.
You can also find out our NHL predictions for every game today, but now let’s dive into my best NHL prop bets for this mega slate.
Nikolaj Ehlers over 0.5 points (+100)
The Jets have been a pleasant surprise in the NHL this year. Not that they were expected to be bad, but they are even better than the preseason expectations indicated. A key contributor of late has been Nikolaj Ehlers, who looks to be a favorable play again on Sunday. Ehlers is rolling right now as he has 6 points in his last 6 games. Over that span, the Jets played some very solid teams, so it is not like he is collecting points against poor, stat-padding teams.
The Jets face the Predators, who sit 10th in the Western Conference with a 9-10-0 record. The Predators have not done much right so far this season. They struggle for consistency and they have not been great on either side of the puck. Winnipeg has played great hockey lately and has a good chance to put up a big number. If they do, Ehlers has a good chance to contribute as has recently for this hot team.
Connor McDavid over 0.5 goals (-110)
This season has been ugly for the Oilers so far, there is no way around that. Maybe they will turn things around and get in the playoff race by the new year, or maybe they will not. What should remain consistent regardless of team performance is the quality of Connor McDavid. Despite a brutal start to the Oilers season, McDavid has 6 goals and 20 points in 17 games. That is how good he is, that he can average over a point per game and it feels like he’s underachieving.
Any McDavid prop is going to feel good based solely on his historical numbers and dominance on the ice. Today is not much different considering it is just another game where he can do his thing. The Oilers face a Ducks team that has lost 5 consecutive games with an average of 4.40 goals allowed per game. McDavid always looks good to produce, but this game sets up especially well for McDavid to tally a goal.
