This final Saturday features a monster 13-game slate, including plenty of afternoon action, so it’s the perfect day for NHL fans to make sure that they’re locked into multiple approaches to the matchups. Along with guys like Auston Matthews in pursuit of 70 goals, why not make some NHL prop bet picks? I have provided you with my top 2 spots, so let’s break things down.
Along with our best NHL player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.
Matthew Tkachuk, FLA Over 2.5 shots on goal (-150)
Over 2.5 shots on goal (-150) available at time of publishing. Playable to -160.
It’s not quite one of the early afternoon games, but just after those wrap up is a battle of Atlantic Division teams with the Florida Panthers hosting the Buffalo Sabres. Only the Panthers will be in the Stanley Cup playoffs, but we can still take advantage of a great spot. They tend to get generous stat keepers when on home ice in terms of shots on goal, and they have one of the best volume shooters in Matthew Tkachuk.
His incredible season last year led Florida to the Stanley Cup Finals, and he is once again inside the top 20 in terms of shots this year. Recently, he has had a trend of going every other game with a high number of shots — and he has excelled against the Sabres as well. In just 2 games against them this season, Tkachuk has recorded 9 shots on goal. I had Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars come through for us against Buffalo recently; Tkachuk can do the same.
Filip Forsberg, NAS Over 4.5 shots on goal (+115)
Over 4.5 shots on goal (+115) available at time of publishing. Playable to +100.
I’m sticking with another shots on goal prop today, and — yes — I know it’s quite a big number. While that is certainly true, I trust the iconic mustache of Filip Forsberg to come through for us. Although the Nashville Predators will be on the second night of a back-to-back, it’s 2 nights in a row of arguably playing the 2 worst teams in the NHL — the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets.
It’s the Jackets that they will be hosting tonight, which presents a great opportunity for Filip Forsberg to pad his stats. He currently has the 5th-most shots one the season, putting him just behind Auston Matthews, which speaks volumes in itself. Columbus has also allowed the 2nd-most shots per game this season, and Forsberg is certainly part of the reason why. He posted 7 shots on goal against them just last month, and 6 against the Jackets the game prior to that. I’m backing that trend to continue and taking Forsberg to get 5 or more shots on goal.
