Even though there are only 5 games on Monday’s NHL slate, there is plenty of star power. All 5 games start at the same time which means fans will be treated to a constant flurry of action. There will be plenty for the highlight reel tonight. Even if your favorite team is not in action on Monday, there is plenty to watch for. Whether it is checking in to see what star players are doing or a couple teams pushing for their first wins of the season, there will be no shortage of action. You can find out our NHL predictions for every game today, but for now, let’s dive into our best NHL prop bets.
Auston Matthews over 1.5 points (-110)
Through nearly the first week of the NHL season, the Maple Leafs have scored 12 regulation goals. That is good for T-1 goals per game in the NHL and T-2 most goals scored overall. This team is buzzing early on and, to no surprise, Auston Matthews has been the ring leader. He has 6 goals already in the first 2 games. Of those, he has tallied 4 even strength and 2 powerplay goals. Regardless of the situation, Matthews will have a chance to produce.
Toronto gets a soft matchup on Monday which only reinforces the appeal of Matthews’ props. Facing Chicago, there should be no shortage of opportunities for a superstar of Matthews’ caliber to pad his stats. Toronto has struggled with goal prevention early on. If that continues on Monday, the Leafs will be forced to press offensively to win a high-scoring game. If the game script goes anything like Toronto’s first 2 games, Matthews should be in line for another big night.

Jack Hughes over 0.5 goals (+100)
Jack Hughes has picked up right where he left off last season. After career highs last year in goals (43), assists (56) and points (99), Hughes already has 2 goals and 3 assist for 5 points through 2 games to start this season. He leads the Devils in all 3 of those statistical categories early on. If or until his numbers plateau for any extended period of time, Jack Hughes is a very reliable, productive player.
The Devils host the Panthers, who have plenty of ability to score. If this becomes a high-scoring game, it is likely that Jack Hughes will be involved. He has averaged 21:27 of ice time through New Jersey’s first 2 games this year. Hughes is also centering the top line with Tyler Toffoli and Jesper Bratt. Unsurprisingly, he also centers the top power play with both linemates, plus Ondrej Palat and brother Luke Hughes. The opportunity is there for Jack Hughes to produce and he has thus far in this young season.
