We are almost a month removed from the NBA All-Star Weekend and one thing is clear: scoring is down. Sharps attacked unders in the first 2 weeks since the all-star break to much success and now we’re seeing totals in the 200s and 210s consistently. For tonight, a few games stand out to me: Pacers (+7) vs Thunder, Bucks (-2) vs Kings and Timberwolves vs Clippers. The last game has a ton of uncertainty around injuries for both Los Angeles and Minnesota, so that game will be left untouched until we know more about the status of Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George.
For my best NBA player prop bet of the night, I’m targeting the first matchup airing on TNT as the 76ers host the Knicks. Since Joel Embiid’s injury departure, we have an 18-game sample size of Kelly Oubre and Tyrese Maxey that we can focus on for tonight. Over the last 4 games, Maxey has been out with an injury but returns to the starting lineup tonight. In the 5 games that Oubre played without Maxey (post-Embiid injury), he’s averaging 24.2 ppg. In the other 13 games, he’s averaging 14.25 ppg. Against the Knicks on the season, he’s only hit this in 1 of 3 games, and that single over came in Maxey’s absence.
The on/off stats for Oubre with Maxey being the variable are also staggering; with Maxey on the floor, Oubre is averaging -9.6ppg per 100 possessions and equates to roughly 13.97 points as a projection based on 32 minutes. OG Anunoby is questionable tonight but is expected to play his first minutes since January 27. We’re fading Oubre tonight.
