We’ve got a 7-game slate in the NBA on Tuesday night as we creep closer to the All-Star Weekend. The Mavericks and Nets face each other with both on a back-to-back, and the game of the night is easily the Bucks traveling to Phoenix to take on the Suns. Early returns from the Doc Rivers era have been disappointing as the Bucks are 1-3 in his tenure. Another game that could be a playoff preview is the battle for Florida, with Orlando heading down to Miami to take on the Heat. Let’s dive into my favorite NBA player prop bets of the day, while you can also check out our NBA picks for today’s matchups.
Lauri Markkanen (UTA) over 31.5 points + rebounds (-120)
Line available on DraftKings Sportsbook at the time of publishing.
This line is 32.5 on FanDuel for -113 but the 1 PR is worth the 7 cents juice here. Markkanen is averaging 0.978 P+R per minute with a median minutes output of 32.5, projecting us at 32.9 P+R for the game, so we’re getting a good number at 31.5. Over the last 3 games, the Thunder have been without Jalen Williams and their three-point shooting has seen an uptick in both corner/AB3 zones. That fits perfectly for Markkanen, who is 2nd behind John Collins amongst starters in terms of three-point rebounding percentage, where he averages 4.05 per 100 possessions.
Scoring-wise, Markkanen gets a bump at home, where he’s far more efficient and averages 24.3 ppg. In one game this season against OKC, he put up 36 P+R and played nearly 36 minutes. When he plays 35 minutes or more, he’s hit this line in 9 of 12 games. As we saw the other night from Utah, the minutes are the biggest factor in projecting their player props. Will Hardy plays the hot hat and is matchup-dependent. Markkanen’s size will be needed against this oversized, all-wing Thunder team. 1u

$5 worth of fun: Tyrese Haliburton (IND) Double-Double (+750)
Line available on DraftKings sportsbook at the time of publishing.
Haliburton has been on a minutes restriction over the last 4 games to roughly 20-22 minutes, but still managed a double-double in 1 of them. Rick Carlisle on a local radio station this morning mentioned that Hali could have gone back in the other night against Charlotte if they needed him and is hinting that we could see a minutes boost for the All-Star guard. I’d guess he makes the jump tonight to 25-27 minutes at home against the Rockets. In games where Haliburton has played 27 minutes or less this season, he’s still managed 5 double-doubles in 11. These odds just do not match for me and it’s worth the $5 sprinkle.
